It is the mission of BendAburu to foster good governance, development and to expose corruption and disinformation, and the daunting task of government, public servants and those in positions of leadership in Kenya to account.

Our mission: To serve democracy by revealing abuses of power, corruption and betrayal of public trust by powerful public and private institutions, using the tools of story telling.

While sharing information we go after the facts – “Nothing Sacred but the Truth”

Background

BendAburu  is founded by Peter Ouma Muga.

It consists of contributions by independent journalists, concerned citizens, activists, academics, specialist researchers and anyone who  wants to shape the direction of our world, by holding public servants, and those in positions of leadership to account. We seek to expose the lies of governments and that of corporate elite and public servants who constantly trash our humanity by asking the hard questions the mainstream media refuses to ask, we shine a little more light on truth.

Furthermore, we seek to connect, educate, and motivate those who are interested in alerting the public to the pertinent issues that are affecting our lives each and every day.  Our goal is to create a community of truth-seekers and peacemakers who share a commitment to nonviolent action.

BendAburu is not so much an individual or group, but an idea, an idea that “We the People” are the change we wish to see in this world. Together, as residents of this planet, we can push back against those who wish to dominate our lives and begin to restore liberty to all.

With a special focus on Fact-Checking, Ethics, Leadership, Storytelling, we check the various versions of events against credible facts and opinion provided by journalists, concerned citizens, academics, specialist researchers and anyone. We then publish both versions, together with our commentary, in free BendAburu Alerts and invite readers to deliver their verdict both to us and to mainstream journalists and concerned parties through the email addresses provided in our ’Suggested Action’ at the end of each alert.

Code of Conduct

We urge contributors to adopt a polite, rational and respectful tone at all times – we strongly oppose all abuse and personal attack. We also publish BendAburu Moments, which are cogitations, exploring related personal and philosophical themes.
